Healthy IDEAS Training in Northeast Ohio

ODA is again working with the Ohio Association of County Behavioral Health Authorities to offer Healthy IDEAS Training. This time in September and October in Northeast Ohio.

Healthy IDEAS (Identifying, Depression, Empowering Activities for Seniors) is an evidence-based program designed to detect depression and reduce the severity of depressive symptoms among older adults that integrates depression awareness and management into existing case management services provided to older adults. It is also a low-cost, practical way for addressing depression among older people that can be flexibly integrated into the regular routines of existing staff.

For service providers Healthy IDEAS can 1) expand capacity to address depression, 2) establish better communication and stronger partnerships with mental health providers, 3) offer an opportunity to deliver a proven, successful program that addresses critical client needs, and 4) improve staff knowledge and confidence in helping clients. To date in Ohio many organizations have been trained and are implementing Healthy IDEAS, including but not limited to, area agencies on aging, home delivered meal programs, care coordination programs, correctional institutions, home health agencies, and health care providers.

The attached flyer describes the training in more detail. Please consider participating.

ALSO, PLEASE PASS THIS ALONG TO PROVIDERS AND/OR YOUR MEMBERS IN NORTHEAST OHIO THAT MIGHT BE INTERESTED IN PARTICIPATING IN THIS FREE TRAINING.

To register or learn more contact Suzanne Dulaney at (614)224-1111 or SDulaney@oacbha.org by NO LATER THAN SEPT. 15th
