Ohio is now one of 30 states that have elected to run its own High Risk Insurance pool. This pool is designed to give individuals that are considered "high risk" by insurance companies health coverage for their pre-existing conditions.
To qualify, an individual must:
* Provide evidence of a pre-existing condition.
* Evidence issued within the past six months is accepted.
* Medical Records are not required
* Provide verification that two insurance carriers have denied coverage.
* Provide Proof of US and Ohio Citizenship
* Be uninsured for 6 months prior to applying for the pool
* Be ineligible for Medicare/Medicaid

Those who feel that they may be eligible to receive coverage through this pool are highly encouraged to apply as soon as possible. This program has limited funding and coverage is given on a "first come, first served" basis.
