Cornerstone Church LEAP

On Saturday, July 31^st, Cornerstone Free Methodist Church held its annual community outreach event known as LEAP. Over 2000 people from the Akron area attended this free community celebration. Families started lining up the night before to get a chance to be first in line for what the church was offering the community.

The major draw of LEAP was the free backpacks filled with school supplies for children that were present for the event. During LEAP, kids could be seen carrying their brand new backpacks with supplies for their upcoming school year. Other draws were free haircuts, vision service offered by Wal-Mart, Summa’s Mobile Clinic, an open food pantry, and participation from various community organizations. There was also free entertainment and food. Representatives from Goodwill Industries, 211/Infoline, Open M, and (of course) The Ohio Benefit Bank were present. People were given quick checks and were given contact information for the church’s Benefit Bank site!

LEAP was a huge success, and it was a great day for the community. Many people got the help they needed, all at once place!
