FCRCCC Ohio Benefit Bank Tax Clinic Update

Congratulations to The Family and Community Resource Center of Columbiana County! During their OBB Tax Clinic, held on March 4, 2011, clients received a total of $22, 312 in Tax Returns.

The Family and Community Resource Center of Columbiana County (FCRCCC) is a nonprofit organization that began as a rural grassroots community initiative in 2005. Its founder Cindy Slavens, built the organization in response to the unmet needs within her family who had been diagnosed with disabilities.

With the help of many community partners she began to reach out to meet the needs which Appalachian families encounter. Due to the entwining cultural differences and enhanced economic challenges that this group experiences, it is more at risk than the rest of the country, adding additional stresses on families with disabilities.

Goals
The Center is designed for self-empowerment trainings and educational opportunities, supports, mentoring, and to supply resource information while acting as a center for children and adults for a cadre of challenges that face Columbiana County residents – young and old.

Mission
The mission of The Family and Community Resource Center of Columbiana County is “Renewing the family spirit through educational programs and opportunities across the life span”. FCRCCC does this by providing respite for weary families, providing needed services for families who cannot find them elsewhere in the county – and advocating for services where they do not exist anywhere.
